Winner
of the "Worlds finest, whitest sand," Siesta Key Public Beach extends
along a half-mile of the most pristine white sands in the world. The pure
quartz, pulverized to a fine powder, has a magical quality. There is no sand
quite like Siestas, anywhere. Even under the burning subtropical sun, it feels
cool to the touch. Siesta Key has received many honors for it’s powdery
white-sand beaches including recognition as one of “America’s Best
Beaches”; “Third Best Walking Beach in the USA,” by USA Today
International Edition; and “The Best of the Best Sand,” by Conde Nast
Traveler Magazine.

Relaxing is easy on Siesta Key: sand soft and white as
sugar, brilliant sunshine and azure waters abound. But be prepared —
with so much to see and do, it's almost impossible to lie idle on this
island!
First ... the beach — as perfect as a stretch of sand
could be. Whether you curl your toes in it, run your fingers through it or
bask on it, the allure of Siesta Key sand is contagious. Beach lovers
flock to these silky shores to take advantage of the wide expanse of sand
and the tranquil gulf waters. Siesta Key Beach is perfect for strolling,
shell collecting, or picking up more active pursuits like renting a
catamaran or kayak from one of the many beach concessionaires. This
perfect family vacation venue, which boasts beachside picnic areas and
playgrounds, is also home to candlelit restaurants and cozy rental
cottages — ideal for a romantic getaway.
As the Florida sun sets, Siesta Key's nightlife kicks
in. Siesta Village is the island's bustling heart, filled with bars,
restaurants and shops. Sip a daiquiri, munch on conch fritters or peruse
the wares of local artisans — the choice is yours. Siesta Key makes it
easy to indulge in the art of island living.

Siesta Key’s dazzling
white sand was rated America’s very best by beachgoers who echo what
every Sarasota beach lover knows -- that Siesta Key’s sugar-fine sand is
clean, powder-soft to the touch, free of shell particles and cool on the
feet.
John McCarthy, Sarasota County’s manager of Parks and Recreation,
described the ancient quartz crystals that make up the sand: “This
beautiful, wide beach has something for beach lovers of all ages -- the
greatest sand anywhere leading to the clean blue water of the Gulf of
Mexico, with shade trees and recreational areas nearby.”

This isn’t the first time Siesta Key Beach has been
ranked among the best. The Travel Channel has rated Siesta Key Beach as
one of Florida's top 10. A recent article in Southern Living magazine
called Siesta Key “the hidden jewel of Florida’s West Coast.” In a
USA Today readership poll more than 3,000 people across the country named
Siesta Key as one of the top three U.S. beaches. Siesta Key Beach was
named by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 1987 “the whitest,
finest beach sand in the world” out of more than 30 entries worldwide, a
title that still stands today. Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic
Traveler magazines have also ranked Siesta Key among America’s very best
beaches.
